The International Labour Organisation Sri Lanka has tasked the Marga Institute with the responsibility of gathering data from national statistical agencies, pertinent government departments, international development partners, and esteemed research institutions. Additionally, qualitative data will be acquired through interviews and focus group discussions involving key stakeholders, such as older workers, employers, and migration experts. This comprehensive approach aims to uncover the intricate relationship between the aging workforce and labor migration in Sri Lanka.
The Institute’s mandate extends to formulating policy recommendations tailored to the Sri Lankan government and relevant stakeholders. These recommendations will address the challenges posed by an aging workforce while also capitalizing on the opportunities it presents, thereby effectively managing the impact on labor migration.
