Language Rights through Cultural Traditions

National Languages Equality Advancement Project (NLEAP) provided a grant to Marga Institute to carry out a one and half year programme to promote language rights in five districts. Marga Institute will train Language /Reconciliation Societies in Colombo, Kandy, Puttalam, Ampara and Vavuniya Districts on how to conduct mystery customer surveys, public relations, and how to convert their societies into institutions. In addition to this Marga will also produce six videos to promote language rights and second language learning. The videos will be broadcast on social media.

NLEAP is a Government of Canada supported project designed to respond to the Government of Sri Lanka’s goal to protect and promote the language rights of all its citizens and support and strengthen the OLP implementation with the Ministry of Minister of Public Services, Provincial Councils & Local Government.
