Amarga Institute

The study on Female Labour Participation in Sri Lanka was designed to explore how the employment of females impacts the households in Sri Lanka in its transition to high human development. The Institute carried out a country-specific desk study of a comparative analysis of experiences in reaching Very High Human Development status in Sweden, Singapore, USA, Italy, South Korea, and Japan. The Institute also carried out an exploratory qualitative survey of purposively selected households to study the socio-economic barriers of female labour participation.
