We had a workshop for environmental activists in Aranayake. We presented case studies of successful civil society initiatives and advocacy campaigns on how to revitalise Community-Based Organisations and Civil Society in the locality. We discussed the importance of collecting data, understanding power dynamics, networking with all stakeholder groups, and working closely with public officials to resolve problems and issues that protect the environment, particularly in Maoya. The group developed four initiatives, which will be implemented immediately. This indeed is another success story of our work.
